Carol Gaffney, Ph.D.

Dr. Carol Gaffney is a principal of Six Dimensions Sports Consulting, which provides consulting, advisory, and coaching services for coaches, athletes, and teams eager to improve on-field performance through developing their inner game of sport.  Carol has been dubbed the "Original Soccer Mom" because of her early (as far back as the 70s) and enduring support for Chris, Sean and Kevin as they follow their passions. 

Carol is a licensed psychologist, holds certification as a Behavioral Style/Values/Axiology Analyst, and is the originator of Behavioral Intelligence™ and the Starr(c) model for decision making and performance improvement. She has authored books (Take a Deep Breath Relax, Coaching Guide for Parents), conducted research, and developed programs for stress reduction, conflict resolution, communication improvement, ADHD, healthy lifestyles, problem-solving, decision-making, team productivity, and understanding the “inner game” for achieving personal success. .

Her present focus is to further develop the concept of Behavioral Intelligence™ as it applies to personal and professional success on and off the field. She is a consultant to the Center for Leadership Development at Johnson & Wales University, where she has also taught.

A consultant, coach, author, and speaker, Carol received her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington and her B.A. in psychology from Bates College and was a post-doctoral fellow at Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas.  She has studied with Dr. Herbert Benson (author of "The Relaxation Response"), has studied hynotherapy and a variety of mind/body strategies for health and peak performance.  Her clients are individuals, groups, and organizations intent on improving performance and productivity as they develop Behavioral Intelligence™.

Carol's personal sport experience includes field hockey, tennis, sailing, and golf. Her sport consulting focuses includes athletes and coaches in golf, sailing and tennis. She lives in Barrington, Rhode Island.
